Match the material to the room
Water exposure, pets, traffic, sunlight, cleaning, and comfort matter. A material that works in a living room may not be appropriate for a shower or below-grade basement.
Evaluate what is underneath
Uneven, damaged, flexible, or damp substrates may need repair or preparation. Skipping this work can affect appearance and long-term performance.
Plan transitions and finished heights
New material thickness can affect doors, appliances, stairs, trim, and transitions into adjacent rooms. These details are easier to solve before installation starts.
Confirm pattern and layout
Tile size, grout joints, focal lines, cuts, and room geometry influence both appearance and labor. Review the intended layout before materials are permanently installed.
